This hub gathers the sets handed out through organized play rather than sold in stores. The POP Series ran from POP Series 1 in September 2004 to POP Series 9 in March 2009, nine sets of 17 cards each released through Pokémon Organized Play events and affiliated products. The program was conceived as an extra incentive to take part in Pokémon leagues and organized play, offering a small promotional set instead of a single promo card, and from POP Series 2 onward the sets followed a rough six month rota tied to the tournament season.
The POP sets mix reprints with cards that exist nowhere else, and a few of them became some of the most valuable cards of the EX and Diamond & Pearl years. The Umbreon and Espeon of POP Series 5, the Celebi ex of POP Series 2, the Pikachu of POP Series 5 and POP Series 9, the Vaporeon of POP Series 3 and the Tyranitar ex and Sceptile of POP Series 1 lead the graded market, and complete POP sets are hard to assemble because the packs were only ever given away.
The Play! Pokémon Prize Pack Series revived the idea in 2022. Series One, released November 9, 2022, holds 170 selected cards from the Sword & Shield expansion through Evolving Skies plus SWSH Black Star Promos and basic Energy, each keeping its original set number but carrying a Play! Pokémon logo stamp, in six card packs. New series have followed roughly every six months, Series Two in January 2023 through Series Nine in July 2026, each drawing on the sets of the previous year.
Prize Pack cards matter to collectors because the stamp makes an ordinary card a scarce variant: the Prize Pack prints of Charizard VSTAR, Lugia V, Sableye, Blaziken V and Mew ex trade far above their pack pulled versions, and Slabfolio tracks them as separate rows on each set hub. The hubs below carry every card list, the live chase prices and the editorial notes for each series.
There are 18 published POP / Prize Packs era sets in this hub.
The published POP / Prize Packs era sets were released from September 1, 2004 to July 1, 2026.
The leading tracked chase cards in the POP / Prize Packs era are Espeon from POP Series 5, Umbreon from POP Series 5, Celebi ex from POP Series 2.
Nine promotional sets of 17 cards each, released from September 2004 to March 2009 through Pokémon Organized Play leagues, events and affiliated products as an incentive to take part in organized play.
The Umbreon and Espeon of POP Series 5 lead, followed by the Celebi ex of POP Series 2, the Pikachu of POP Series 5, the Vaporeon of POP Series 3 and the Tyranitar ex of POP Series 1. Each set hub ranks its own cards by live PSA 10 value.
Tournament prize packs introduced in November 2022 containing stamped reprints of recent set cards. Series One held 170 cards from Sword & Shield through Evolving Skies plus promos and Energy, six cards per pack, and new series have followed about every six months.
Often, yes. The Play! Pokémon stamp makes each one a scarce variant, and Prize Pack prints of cards such as Charizard VSTAR, Lugia V and Mew ex trade well above the pack pulled versions. Slabfolio lists them as separate rows on each set hub.
