What POP Series 6 is

POP Series 6 is the sixth special set released through Pokémon Organized Play events and affiliated products, distributed from September 2007 to March 2008. It has 17 cards: 5 rares, Bastiodon 1, Lucario 2, Manaphy 3, Pachirisu 4 and Rampardos 5, 5 uncommons from Drifloon 6 to Staravia 10 and 7 commons from Bidoof 11 to Turtwig 17, with Lucario on the booster design.

It was the first Organized Play set to carry cards from the Diamond & Pearl Series, arriving as Mysterious Treasures released, and because the Japanese promos of the time were reprints of Diamond & Pearl and Mysterious Treasures cards with different artwork, only Pikachu 9 and Gible 7 are not reprints from those two sets. It was also the first POP set without a rarer card at number 17, since the only promotional LV.X available in Japan at the time, Lucario, was held for a promotional tin in November 2007.

What makes POP Series 6 different

• The holographic Turtwig The Cosmos Holofoil Turtwig 17 from the Starter Blisters and Diamond & Pearl Collection is the most valuable card in the set in PSA 10 by a wide margin, far above its regular common print.
• Pikachu three ways Pikachu 9 exists as the regular uncommon, a Cosmos Holofoil from the DP Value Pack 2 and Power Packs and a Pokémon Day stamped promo from 2007, and all three rank in the set's top seven in PSA 10.
• One rare in every pack A production error meant every POP Series 6 pack contained one rare and one common or uncommon, so the rares are far less scarce than in earlier POP sets.

How POP Series 6 arrived

POP Series 6 began distribution in September 2007, days after Mysterious Treasures on August 22, 2007 and ahead of Secret Wonders on November 7, 2007, and it ran through March 2008. Seven of its cards were later reprinted as Cosmos Holofoils: Gible 7 and Pikachu 9 in the DP Value Pack 2 of November 2007 and the Power Packs of July 9, 2008, Riolu 8 in the Great Encounters Blisters of March 2008, Manaphy 3 in the Majestic Dawn Blisters of June 2008 and Chimchar 14, Piplup 15 and Turtwig 17 in the Starter Blisters of May 2008 and the Diamond & Pearl Collection of August 2008.

POP Series 6 products

POP Series 6 was never sold in booster boxes. Packs were handed out at leagues and events and bundled in value packs, and the sealed table above tracks loose packs.

Collecting and grading POP Series 6

The holographic Turtwig 17 leads the set in PSA 10, with the holographic Pikachu 9 second and the regular Pikachu 9 third, then Lucario 2, Piplup 15, Riolu 8, the stamped Pikachu 9, the holographic Chimchar 14, Bidoof 11 and Gible 7. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.

Organized Play packs were thin and rarely sleeved, so PSA 10 copies of every card are scarce and the gap between PSA 9 and PSA 10 is very wide, even on the commons. Holographic, stamped and regular prints are graded and priced separately.
