POP Series 3 is the third special set released through Pokémon Organized Play, debuting at the 2006 Regional Championships in April 2006. It has 17 cards: 6 rares, 5 uncommons, 5 commons and Ho-Oh ex 17, with Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon on the booster design. Because it arrived late and boosters were short at several Regionals, it was available for only four months, the shortest run of any POP Series set.
The rares are Blastoise 1, the Eeveelutions Flareon 2, Jolteon 3 and Vaporeon 6 and the pair Minun 4 and Plusle 5, with High Pressure System 10 and Low Pressure System 11 among the uncommons. Pichu Bros. 16 is the first tournament legal card to show more than one Pokémon.
POP Series 3 debuted at the 2006 Regional Championships in April 2006, after EX Legend Maker on February 13, 2006 and ahead of EX Holon Phantoms on May 3, 2006, and its four month run ended in August 2006 when POP Series 4 arrived. Its rares were reprinted as Cosmos Holofoils between September 2006 and June 2007 through the Crystal Trainer Set, the Eeveelutions and EX Dragon Frontiers blisters, an Enhanced Value Pack and the 2007 Spring Collector's Tins.
POP Series 3 was never sold in booster boxes. Packs were handed out at leagues and events, and the sealed table above tracks loose packs.
The holographic Vaporeon 6 leads the set in PSA 10 by a wide margin, with the holographic Blastoise 1, Flareon 2, Minun 4 and Plusle 5 behind it, then the holographic Ho-Oh ex 17, Pichu Bros. 16, the regular Blastoise 1, Flareon 2 and Minun 4 and the regular Ho-Oh ex 17. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.
Organized Play packs were thin and rarely sleeved, and the four month run kept supply short, so PSA 10 copies of every card are scarce and the gap between PSA 9 and PSA 10 is very wide. Holographic and regular prints are graded and priced separately.
