About the MEGA era

The MEGA era is the Japanese series behind the English Mega Evolution Series, and it runs ahead of it. Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia opened it on August 1, 2025 as paired sets of 63 cards and 29 secret cards each, featuring Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir, and the M-P Promotional cards began the same day with 001/M-P Chikorita in the first MEGA Series Gym Promo Card Pack. The two sets became the English Mega Evolution set of September 26, 2025.

Inferno X followed on September 26, 2025 with 80 cards and 36 secret cards and Mega Charizard X at its center, becoming Phantasmal Flames. Mega Dream ex, the era's first high class pack, arrived on November 28, 2025 with 193 cards and 57 secret cards and became Ascended Heroes, the English special expansion themed on Pokémon Legends: Z-A with new and returning Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Tera Pokémon ex and Trainer's Pokémon.

From there the era follows Pokémon Legends: Z-A set by set. Nihil Zero on January 23, 2026 features Mega Zygarde and became Perfect Order, with its Japanese name Munikisu Zero localized as Nullifying Zero on the English Mega Zygarde ex card. Ninja Spinner on March 13, 2026 put Mega Greninja at the center and became Chaos Rising. Abyss Eye on May 22, 2026 was the first set based on the Mega Dimension DLC and became Pitch Black, and Storm Emeralda on July 31, 2026, with 76 cards and 37 secret cards, is the Japanese original of Delta Reign. 30th Celebration released simultaneously worldwide on September 16, 2026 as part of the Pokémon 30th Anniversary, with 103 cards in its Japanese release.

Mega Symphonia, Mega Dream ex and Storm Emeralda lead the era's Japanese market so far, with Mega Brave, Inferno X, Ninja Spinner and Abyss Eye behind them, and these markets are still forming.
