The XY Series ran from the Kalos Starter Set on November 8, 2013 to Evolutions on November 2, 2016, covering the Kalos region of Pokémon X and Y and the Hoenn of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Twelve main expansions and three special sets released in English, drawn from the Japanese XY era and, from BREAKthrough onward, the Japanese XY BREAK era.
The XY base set introduced M Pokémon-EX, Mega Evolved Pokémon-EX that carried the Mega Evolution feature of Pokémon X and Y into the card game, and later sets added secret prints of them. Phantom Forces introduced Spirit Link, Pokémon Tool cards that let a Pokémon Mega Evolve without ending the turn. Primal Clash introduced Ancient Traits, special effects that gave certain Pokémon advantages in battle, and BREAKthrough introduced Pokémon BREAK, a new type of Pokémon that evolved sideways onto its lower stage.
The three special sets each did something different. Double Crisis, in March 2015, featured Team Aqua and Team Magma of the Hoenn region. Generations, in February 2016, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the franchise with Generation I Pokémon and a Radiant Collection subset. Evolutions, in November 2016, closed the series as the twelfth main expansion by revisiting the Base Set for the same anniversary, reprinting its Pokémon with the EX era's card frame, and it remains one of the most opened sets of the decade.
Collectors chase the full art and secret rare Pokémon-EX. Gengar EX from Phantom Forces, the shiny secret rare M Rayquaza EX of Roaring Skies, Blastoise EX from the XY base set, M Charizard EX from Flashfire and Team Magma's Groudon EX from Double Crisis lead the era's graded market, and the Evolutions Charizard carries the nostalgia trade. The set hubs below carry every card list, the live chase and sealed prices and the editorial history of each release.
There are 15 published XY era sets in this hub.
The published XY era sets were released from November 8, 2013 to November 2, 2016.
The leading tracked chase cards in the XY era are Team Aqua's Kyogre EX from Double Crisis, Team Magma's Groudon EX from Double Crisis, M Charizard EX from Flashfire.
Fifteen English sets: twelve main expansions from XY to Evolutions and three special sets, the Kalos Starter Set, Double Crisis and Generations.
It opened with the Kalos Starter Set on November 8, 2013, with the XY base set following on February 5, 2014, and closed with Evolutions on November 2, 2016, after which the Sun & Moon Series began.
M Pokémon-EX in the XY base set, Spirit Link Pokémon Tools in Phantom Forces, Ancient Traits in Primal Clash and Pokémon BREAK in BREAKthrough, alongside the Pokémon-EX carried over from the Black & White Series.
Evolutions for its Base Set reprints and Charizard, Roaring Skies for the shiny M Rayquaza EX, Phantom Forces for Gengar EX, Flashfire for M Charizard EX and Double Crisis for Team Magma's Groudon EX. Each set hub ranks its own chase cards by live PSA 10 value.
They are the same English series. In Japan the XY era ended with Bandit Ring (Ancient Origins) and the XY BREAK era began with Blue Shock and Red Flash (BREAKthrough), so the Japanese hubs split where the English hub does not.
