About Majestic Dawn
What Majestic Dawn is
Majestic Dawn is the fifth main expansion of the Diamond & Pearl Series, released in English on May 21, 2008. It has 100 cards, with 14 holofoil rares from Articuno 1 to Zapdos 14 and four Pokémon LV.X closing the set: Garchomp LV.X 97, Glaceon LV.X 98, Leafeon LV.X 99 and Porygon-Z LV.X 100. The set introduced the new Eevee evolutions Glaceon 5 and Leafeon 7 and carries all seven Eeveelutions.
Majestic Dawn mostly contains cards from the Japanese Dawn Dash of October 26, 2007. Because of the six month gap between the fourth and fifth Japanese expansion blocks, Moonlit Pursuit and Dawn Dash were split into two English expansions, and Majestic Dawn completed that transition. Its holofoils also carry the Sinnoh legendaries Darkrai 3, Dialga 4, Palkia 11 and Cresselia 2, the Kanto birds and Mewtwo 9.
What makes Majestic Dawn different
- Darkrai and Palkia The Darkrai 3 and Palkia 11 holos are the two most valuable cards in the set in PSA 10, ahead of every LV.X, with the Zapdos 14 holo fifth.
- The Eeveelution LV.X pair Glaceon LV.X 98 and Leafeon LV.X 99 by Ryo Ueda rank third and fourth in the set in PSA 10, and their Cosmos Holofoil Theme Deck prints Glaceon 20 and Leafeon 24 are tracked separately.
- Eeveelution reverse holos The reverse holo Leafeon 24, Espeon 18 and Umbreon 32 all rank in the set's top eight in PSA 10, with the reverse holo Leafeon 7 and Glaceon 5 also in the top fifteen.
How Majestic Dawn arrived
Dawn Dash released in Japan on October 26, 2007 alongside Moonlit Pursuit. The English Majestic Dawn followed on May 21, 2008, after Prerelease events on the weekends of May 10 to 18 with Mothim 42 as the promo, and Legends Awakened followed on August 20, 2008. It launched with the Polar Frost and Forest Force Theme Decks built around Glaceon and Leafeon, and blisters with Mime Jr., Glameow and Manaphy promos followed in June 2008.
Majestic Dawn products
Majestic Dawn was sold in booster packs, booster boxes, two Theme Decks and blisters. The sealed table above tracks boxes, packs and blisters.
Collecting and grading Majestic Dawn
Darkrai 3 leads the set in PSA 10, with Palkia 11 second, then Glaceon LV.X 98, Leafeon LV.X 99, Zapdos 14, the reverse holo Leafeon 24, Espeon 18 and Umbreon 32, Kabutops 6 and the reverse holo Leafeon 7. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.
Diamond & Pearl era holofoils and reverse holos show print lines and edge wear readily, so PSA 10 copies of the top holos and the LV.X cards are scarce and carry a very wide premium over PSA 9. Holo, reverse holo and Cosmos Holofoil prints and the stamped Countdown Calendar and Burger King Collection 2009 cards are graded and priced separately. Sealed Majestic Dawn is scarce, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes, packs and blisters trade for today.
