The Mega Evolution Series opened on September 26, 2025 with the Mega Evolution base set and is the current English series. It brought Mega Evolution back to the Pokémon TCG as Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, cards that follow the usual stage and evolution of the Pokémon shown, carry very high HP and strong attacks, use a black and yellow ex symbol and give up three Prize cards when Knocked Out. Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex led the first set, Mega Charizard X ex the second, Phantasmal Flames, on November 14, 2025.
From Ascended Heroes onward the series follows the video game Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Ascended Heroes, the first special expansion, arrived on January 30, 2026 with new and returning Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Tera Pokémon ex and Trainer's Pokémon. The rarity ladder carries over from the Scarlet & Violet Series with one addition at the top: Illustration rares, Ultra rares, Special illustration rares and, replacing the gold Hyper rare, the Mega Hyper Rare for the set mascots. Item, Pokémon Tool and Stadium cards can now appear as full art Ultra rares, Mirror Holofoil variants returned, and stamped retailer promos of ordinary cards have repeatedly topped the sets' PSA 10 lists.
