Twilight Masquerade

What Twilight Masquerade is

Twilight Masquerade is the sixth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet Series, released in English on May 24, 2024 under the set code TWM. It has 167 cards in the numbered set plus 59 secret rares, for 226 cards in total. The set is built around the land of Kitakami from The Teal Mask, the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games, and its central Pokémon is Ogerpon, which appears in all four of its masked Tera forms as Pokémon ex.

The checklist holds seven Pokémon ex and seven Tera Pokémon ex, six ACE SPEC cards including the first ACE SPEC Special Energy, 21 Illustration rares, 12 Ultra rare full art Pokémon ex and Supporters, 11 Special illustration rares and six gold etched Hyper rares. Grass is the most common type at 34 cards, a reflection of how much of Kitakami's cast is plant based.

The cards come from the Japanese Mask of Change expansion (translated by Bulbapedia as Transformation Mask), released April 26, 2024, and the Crimson Haze subset from March 22, 2024. Every card but two carries the H regulation mark.

What makes Twilight Masquerade different

• Four Ogerpon ex, four masks Teal Mask, Hearthflame Mask, Wellspring Mask and Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex each appear as a Double rare, an Ultra rare and a Special illustration rare (211 to 213 and 215, all by Yano Keiji), and Teal Mask Ogerpon ex closes the set as a gold Hyper rare at 221.
• Greninja ex carries the value akagi's Special illustration rare Greninja ex 214 is the most valuable card in the set, and the Greninja ex Premium Collection sold through GameStop added a metal card version of the Double rare 106 that trades on its own market.
• An ACE SPEC Special Energy Legacy Energy 167 is the set's ACE SPEC Energy, alongside Hyper Aroma, Scoop Up Cyclone, Secret Box, Survival Brace and Unfair Stamp, six ACE SPEC cards inside the main numbering.
• Illustration rares that outgrade the ex cards Narumi Sato's Eevee 188, Toshinao Aoki's Chansey 187, osare's Tatsugiri 186 and GIDORA's Hisuian Growlithe 181 are Illustration rares whose PSA 10 copies sit among the set's top cards, above several Pokémon ex.
• Retailer stamps and Trick or Trade reprints Retailer stamps cover Teal Mask Ogerpon 24 (GameStop in Canada, EB Games in Australia and New Zealand, a Twilight Masquerade stamp in Europe and Latin America) and Sinistcha 22 (a Twilight Masquerade stamp in the USA), and the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle 2024 reprinted Phantump, Trevenant, Poltchageist, Sinistcha, Teal Mask Ogerpon, Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Munkidori, Fezandipiti and Okidogi with the jack o' lantern stamp.
• Event promos Carmine 145 exists as a Regionals promo and a Regionals staff promo, Community Center 146 as Professor Cup 2024 promos in participation, staff, Top 8, Top 4 and Champion versions, Festival Grounds 149 as a Pokémon League reverse holofoil, and Iron Bundle 62 with a snowflake stamp from the 2024 Holiday Calendar.

How Twilight Masquerade arrived

Japan released the Crimson Haze subset on March 22, 2024 and the Mask of Change expansion on April 26, 2024, and the English set combined them as Twilight Masquerade on May 24, 2024, between Temporal Forces in March and Shrouded Fable in August. Traditional Chinese, Thai, Indonesian and Korean versions followed through May and June 2024, and the Traditional Chinese release came with a Collector's Set of 10 packs, a card list booklet and a stamped full art Chansey promo.

Prerelease tournaments ran on the weekends of May 11 to 12 and May 18 to 19, 2024. Each Build & Battle Box held a 40 card deck built around one of four SVP Black Star Promos (Thwackey 115, Infernape 116, Froslass 117 or Tatsugiri 118, plus a non holofoil Picnicker 114), four booster packs, a tip sheet and a code card, plus non holofoil deck versions of Infernape 33, Froslass 53, Munkidori 95, Fezandipiti 96 and Okidogi 111.

Stores received a Hobby Co-Op Marketing Kit with an Ogerpon fabric banner, a Tera Dragapult and Bloodmoon Ursaluna poster, hanging mobiles, stickers, postcards and pencils. After launch the set kept feeding other products: cosmos holofoil Chandelure 38, Alakazam 82, Sinistcha 22 and Hisuian Arcanine 100 appeared in the Surging Sparks blisters, Dipplin 18 and Teal Mask Ogerpon 24 in the Fall 2024 Collector Chest, and Infernape 33 and Hisuian Arcanine 100 as non holofoil League distribution cards in April 2026.

Twilight Masquerade products and what came in them

The Elite Trainer Box features Ogerpon and holds nine booster packs, 65 card sleeves and four dividers showing Teal Mask Ogerpon, 45 basic Energy cards, a player's guide, six damage counter dice, a competition legal coin flip die, two plastic Special Condition markers and a Teal Mask Ogerpon promo (SVP Promo 123). The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box adds two more packs and a second Teal Mask Ogerpon promo with a Pokémon Center logo stamp.

Single pack blisters carry Toxel (SVP 119) or Pupitar (SVP 120), three pack blisters carry Revavroom (SVP 121) or Snorlax (SVP 122), all on cosmos holofoil, and every blister except the three pack version includes a Lechonk coin. Premium checklane and Stage 1 blisters reuse the Kingdra, Porygon-Z, Lokix and Steelix lines from Paradox Rift. Display boxes hold 36 packs (18 in European half displays), the Booster Bundle holds six packs in two packaging styles, and the Collector's Kit adds a poster, a playmat, one pack and a paper album. The Masks of Ogerpon Premium Collection carries the stamped Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon 40 jumbo and Wellspring Mask Ogerpon 64.

Collecting and grading Twilight Masquerade

Greninja ex 214 is the graded chase, and the live prices above show the spread between raw and PSA 10. The surprise of the set is how well the Illustration rares hold up: Eevee 188, Chansey 187, Tatsugiri 186 and Hisuian Growlithe 181 grade into PSA 10 values that rival the Special illustration rares, and Perrin 220 is the Trainer card to watch. The four Ogerpon Special illustration rares by Yano Keiji are collected as a set of four rather than individually.

Variants need care. The Greninja ex metal card from the GameStop Premium Collection is a separate product from the Double rare 106, the stamped Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon 40 is a jumbo display card, and the cosmos holofoil Alakazam 82 and Sinistcha 22 blister reprints trade apart from the pack pulled cards. The checklist below tracks Metal, Stamped and Cosmos Holo rows separately.

Scarlet & Violet stock grades well when centered, but Special illustration rare textures chip at the edges and the gold Hyper rares show surface marks under angled light. The set was printed in volume through 2024, so sealed booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and bundles remain easy to find, and the sealed table above shows what they trade for today.
