Temporal Forces

What Temporal Forces is

Temporal Forces is the fifth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet Series, released in English on March 22, 2024 under the set code TEF. It has 162 cards in the numbered set plus 56 secret rares, for 218 cards in total. The set continues the Ancient and Future Pokémon story from Paradox Rift, and its central cards are the two Paradox trios that echo the Legendary beasts and the Swords of Justice: Walking Wake, Gouging Fire and Raging Bolt from the past, and Iron Leaves, Iron Boulder and Iron Crown from the future.

The checklist holds 15 Double rare Pokémon ex, two of them Tera Pokémon ex (Wugtrio and Farigiraf, which shift type), seven ACE SPEC cards, 22 Illustration rares, 18 Ultra rares, ten Special illustration rares covering Pokémon and Supporters, and six gold etched Hyper rares. Grass is the most represented type at 33 cards, and the set has eight Dragon cards, the most of any Scarlet & Violet expansion to that point.

The cards come from the Japanese Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions and the Japanese Starter Deck & Build Sets. Almost every card carries the H regulation mark; three keep the older G mark.

What makes Temporal Forces different

• ACE SPEC cards return First seen in the Black & White Series, ACE SPEC cards came back here with a magenta design and the same rule: only one ACE SPEC card of any kind per deck. Temporal Forces has seven, Awakening Drum 141, Hero's Cape 152, Master Ball 153, Maximum Belt 154, Prime Catcher 157, Reboot Pod 158 and Neo Upper Energy 162, the first ACE SPEC Special Energy in the series.
• Six Paradox Pokémon ex, three ways each Walking Wake ex, Gouging Fire ex, Raging Bolt ex, Iron Leaves ex, Iron Boulder ex and Iron Crown ex each appear as a Double rare, an Ultra rare, a Special illustration rare (203 to 208, painted by Teeziro and nagimiso) and a gold Hyper rare (213 to 218).
• The Gastly set Mousho's Illustration rare Gastly 177 became the most valuable card in Temporal Forces, ahead of every Pokémon ex, and the Illustration rare run of 22 cards is the deepest chase list in the set: Drampa 184, Sawsbuck 166, Deerling 165, Minccino 182 and Metagross 178 all grade into meaningful PSA 10 premiums.
• Four Supporter Special illustration rares Bianca's Devotion 209 (Cona Nitanda), Eri 210 (DOM), Morty's Conviction 211 (Megumi Mizutani) and Salvatore 212 (Tetsu Kayama) close the Special illustration rare run, and Morty's Conviction trades alongside the top Pokémon.
• Two Elite Trainer Boxes with Illustration rare style promos The Walking Wake box carries a Flutter Mane promo (SVP 097) and the Iron Leaves box an Iron Thorns promo (SVP 098), both in the Illustration rare style, both from the Japanese Wild Force and Cyber Judge sets. Pokémon Center versions add two packs and a stamped second promo.
• A long tail of stamped and event prints Koraidon 119 exists with EB Games and Temporal Forces stamps, Iron Treads 118 with a GameStop stamp, Pikachu 51 as a Cosmos Holofoil Collector Chest card and a Pokémon Day 2026 stamped 30th Anniversary print, and Buddy-Buddy Poffin 144 as Internationals, Pokémon League and Master Ball League promos.

How Temporal Forces arrived

Japan released Wild Force and Cyber Judge together on January 26, 2024, two sets of 100 cards each that followed Ancient Roar and Future Flash and preceded Transformation Mask. The English set combined them with the Starter Deck & Build Set cards and released on March 22, 2024, between Play! Pokémon Prize Pack Series Four in February and Twilight Masquerade in May.

Prerelease tournaments ran on the weekends of March 9 to 10 and March 16 to 17, 2024, and every attendee received a Temporal Forces Build & Battle Box: a 40 card deck built around an exclusive SVP Black Star Promo, four booster packs, a deck building tip sheet and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. The promos were Feraligatr (SVP 089), Metang (SVP 090), Koraidon (SVP 091) and Miraidon (SVP 092), with non holofoil deck prints of Feraligatr 41, Iron Thorns 62, Flutter Mane 78, Koraidon 119 and Miraidon 121.

The Hobby Co-Op Marketing Kit gave stores a fabric banner of Walking Wake and Iron Leaves, a Raging Bolt and Iron Valiant poster and an LED booster display with a light up Poké Ball. The set's cards kept working afterwards: Iron Thorns 62, Roaring Moon 109, Koraidon 119 and Miraidon 121 returned as Cosmos Holofoil prints in the Stellar Crown checklane blisters, and Scream Tail 77, Flutter Mane 78, Great Tusk 96, Haunter 103 and Iron Jugulis 139 carried the Pikachu jack-o'-lantern stamp in the Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle 2024.

Temporal Forces products and what came in them

Like Paradox Rift before it, Temporal Forces launched with two Paradox themed Elite Trainer Boxes, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves. Each holds nine booster packs, 65 card sleeves, 45 basic Energy cards, a player's guide, six damage counter dice, a coin flip die, two Special Condition markers, four dividers and a code card, plus the Flutter Mane or Iron Thorns promo. The Pokémon Center versions hold eleven packs and a second copy of the promo with a Pokémon Center stamp.

Single pack blisters carry Carvanha (SVP 093) or Bellibolt (SVP 094), three pack blisters carry Cleffa (SVP 095) or Cyclizar (SVP 096), all on Cosmos Holofoil. Premium checklane blisters reuse the Baxcalibur line from Paldea Evolved or the Togekiss line from Obsidian Flames, and Stage 1 blisters carry the Scovillain or Palafin lines from Obsidian Flames, with the top evolution on Cosmos Holofoil. Every blister but the three pack version includes a Pawmi coin. Display boxes hold 36 packs (18 in European half displays). The Booster Bundle holds six packs and, for the first time, came in two box designs: the style used since Lost Origin and a new wider, shallower box. A Collector's Kit added an album, a double sided poster and playmat and one pack, and a Trade and Play Kit for new players held a three card Fun Pack, activity sheets and a jumbo gold mirror holofoil Pawmi coin.

Collecting and grading Temporal Forces

Temporal Forces is an Illustration rare set. Gastly 177 is the card that matters, and Drampa 184, Sawsbuck 166, Deerling 165, Minccino 182 and Metagross 178 form the next group, all cheap enough raw that grading is the whole story. Among the Pokémon ex, Satoshi Shirai's Ultra rare Gengar ex 193 and Teeziro's Special illustration rare Raging Bolt ex 208 lead, with Morty's Conviction 211 the strongest Trainer. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.

The variant rows deserve attention. Pikachu 51 exists as an ordinary common, a Cosmos Holofoil Collector Chest print and a Pokémon Day 2026 stamped 30th Anniversary print, and the stamped Koraidon 119 prints from EB Games and European retailers trade well above the pack card. The checklist below tracks each variant separately, so match the label before comparing prices.

Only one tracked single clears a meaningful raw price, which makes Temporal Forces one of the cheaper Scarlet & Violet master sets to complete, with the graded premiums concentrated in a dozen Illustration rares. Etched Special illustration rares and gold Hyper rares show edge wear and surface scratches under angled light, so inspect before submitting. Sealed product remains plentiful, so displays, Elite Trainer Boxes and bundles are for opening, and the sealed table above tracks what they trade for today.
