Unified Minds

What Unified Minds is

Unified Minds is the eleventh main expansion of the Sun & Moon Series, released in English on August 2, 2019 under the set code UNM. It has 236 cards in the numbered set plus 22 secret rares, 258 in total. It is a TAG TEAM set through and through: Mewtwo & Mew GX, Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor GX, Slowpoke & Psyduck GX, Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX, Espeon & Deoxys GX, Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX, Garchomp & Giratina GX and Umbreon & Darkrai GX headline the checklist, with Heatran GX, Keldeo GX, Latios GX, Jirachi GX, Aerodactyl GX, Mawile GX, Dragonite GX and Naganadel GX alongside them.

The checklist holds 59 rares, 40 Ultra rares and 22 secret rares. The Ultra rares run from the regular GX through 23 full arts, including alternate art prints of four TAG TEAMs by Naoyo Kimura, Miki Tanaka, tetsuya koizumi and chibi, to six full art Supporters, Blue's Tactics, Channeler, Coach Trainer, Grimsley, Misty's Favor and Poké Maniac. The secret rares are 13 rainbow rare GX, six gold Items, the gold Viridian Forest and two gold Special Energy. Psychic is the most represented type at 36 cards, ConceptLab drew 20 cards and Mitsuhiro Arita drew the regular TAG TEAMs.

The cards come from the Japanese Miracle Twin, a 115 card set, with the GG End and Sky Legend subsets.

What makes Unified Minds different

How Unified Minds arrived

Japan released GG End on April 5, 2019, Sky Legend on April 26, 2019 and Miracle Twin on May 31, 2019. The English Unified Minds followed on August 2, 2019, three months after Unbroken Bonds and three weeks before Hidden Fates.

Prerelease tournaments ran on the weekends of July 20 to 21 and July 27 to 28, 2019, with a Build & Battle Box of four booster packs, a tip sheet and a 23 card Evolution pack built around one of four SM Black Star Promos, Amoonguss 202, Tapu Fini 203, Necrozma 204 or Terrakion 205, for a 40 card deck; the boxes reached retail on August 16, 2019.

Launch day brought the Mewtwo & Mew Elite Trainer Box, the Laser Focus and Soaring Storm Theme Decks, Single Pack and Three Pack Blisters, a Collector's Album and Ultra Pro portfolios with Mitsuhiro Arita's TAG TEAM art, with Stage 1 Blisters featuring Cosmos Holofoil Espeon or Umbreon from Lost Thunder later in August. A Cosmos Holofoil Garchomp 114 with a Unified Minds stamp was given away with purchases, a Yellow A alternate art Jirachi GX 79a came in the Jirachi GX Collection and Dragonite 151 returned as a Cosmos Holofoil in the Kanto Powers Mini Tin 5-Pack.

Unified Minds products and what came in them

The Elite Trainer Box features Mewtwo & Mew and holds eight booster packs, 65 card sleeves, four dividers, 45 basic Energy cards, six damage counter dice, a coin flip die, acrylic Burn and Poison markers, an acrylic GX marker, a player's guide and a code card. Laser Focus is a Psychic and Colorless deck built on Necrozma with a Cracked Ice Holofoil Necrozma 101, and Soaring Storm a Water, Dragon and Lightning deck built on Dragonite with a Cracked Ice Holofoil Dragonite 151, each 60 cards with counters, a coin, a playmat, a deck box and a code card.

Collecting and grading Unified Minds

The four alternate arts lead the live prices above: Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX 221, Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX 226, Slowpoke & Psyduck GX 218 and Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor GX 215. Mewtwo & Mew GX follows in all three prints, rainbow 242, full art 222 and regular 71, with the rainbow Slowpoke & Psyduck GX 239, Misty's Favor 235, the regular Slowpoke & Psyduck GX 35, the full art 217 and Espeon & Deoxys GX 72 behind them.

The Cosmos Holofoil and Cracked Ice Dragonite 151 near the top of the list are the Mini Tin and Theme Deck variants of an ordinary holofoil, and the reverse holofoil Pikachu 56 shows a PSA 10 price on very thin volume; match the variant label in the checklist before comparing.

Unified Minds was printed in large quantities and raw singles are cheap outside the top dozen cards, so grading pays on the alternate arts and Mewtwo & Mew GX, where the textured surfaces make a clean PSA 10 the whole story. The sealed table above tracks booster boxes, the Elite Trainer Box, the prerelease kit, both Theme Decks and the blisters.
