About McDonald's Collection 2011
What McDonald's Collection 2011 is
McDonald's Collection 2011 was the first Pokémon card set handed out in North American McDonald's Happy Meals, available in 2011 from June 17 to July 7 alongside that year's Pokémon toys. It grew out of the Japanese Journey Partners Collection Sheets, the first BW era card release in Japan, which offered nine holographic cards with Ken Sugimori artwork across three sheets themed around Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. The English version added Maractus, Alomomola and Audino for 12 cards, each packed with one of eight toys based on Pikachu, Oshawott, Tepig, Snivy, Zorua, Zoroark, Zekrom and Reshiram.
What makes McDonald's Collection 2011 different
- Sugimori artwork on every card All nine original cards use Ken Sugimori's official artwork, one Pokémon for each type, which gives the set a look no regular expansion shares.
- French only in Québec In Québec the collection was released only in French, the first card collection in the province to skip English entirely.
Collecting and grading McDonald's Collection 2011
Snivy leads the hub, followed by Blitzle, Tepig, Oshawott, Zorua and Pidove, with Sandile, Alomomola, Maractus, Audino, Munna and Klink completing the 12. The hub tracks no sealed rows for the set. Meal toys rarely survived in clean condition, so the value of this set is in sharp, unscratched holos of the three starters rather than in completing the checklist, which is easy to do.
