About Emerging Powers

What Emerging Powers is

Emerging Powers is the second main expansion of the Black & White Series, released in English on August 31, 2011. It has 98 cards and no secret rares: 10 holofoil rares, the two full art Rare Ultra cards Thundurus 97 and Tornadus 98, 21 rares, 31 uncommons and 34 commons. It has no Japanese main expansion equivalent; it gathers every card from the Japanese Battle Strength Decks with the remaining cards of Black Collection and White Collection, featuring Generation V Pokémon and the Legendaries Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus and Thundurus. The set introduced a new reverse holofoil that covers the whole card outside the artwork with Energy symbols or Poké Balls, and from this expansion every pack and Theme Deck carried a QR code card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online.

What makes Emerging Powers different

  • Thundurus and Tornadus The full art Thundurus 97 and Tornadus 98 are the two most valuable cards in the set in PSA 10, the only Rare Ultra cards it holds.
  • Beartic in three prints Beartic 30 ranks third in PSA 10 in its Cracked Ice Holofoil blister print, with its reverse holofoil and regular prints also in the top seven.

Emerging Powers products

Thundurus 97 leads the set in PSA 10, with Tornadus 98 second, then the Cracked Ice Beartic 30, Excadrill 56, the reverse holofoil Beartic 30 and Rufflet 87, the regular Beartic 30, Virizion 17, Zoroark 67, Gothitelle 47 and the regular Thundurus 35. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value. Full arts carry a wide premium in PSA 10 over PSA 9, and blister and reverse holofoil prints are graded separately. Sealed Emerging Powers is scarce, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
