About Legendary Treasures

What Legendary Treasures is

Legendary Treasures is the eleventh and final main expansion of the Black & White Series, released in English on November 6, 2013 under the set code LTR. It has 113 cards in the numbered set plus 2 secret rares, with a separately numbered 25 card Radiant Collection subset, 140 cards in all. It is a reprint set: cards from across the Black & White Series return with alternate artwork, ten Pokémon EX are direct reprints from earlier expansions, and the two secret rares, Reshiram 114 and Zekrom 115, were the first entirely gold full art cards in the game.

The Radiant Collection, numbered RC1 to RC25, came from the Japanese Shiny Collection and carries a special coating and foil patterns of its own, with five full art cards at the end: Shaymin EX RC21, Reshiram RC22, Emolga RC23, Mew EX RC24 and Meloetta EX RC25. Psychic is the most represented type at 32 cards, and Charizard 19, Lugia EX 102, Darkrai EX 88 and Rayquaza 93 lead the main set.

The cards come from the Japanese EX Battle Boost concept pack of July 13, 2013, the Shiny Collection of February 1, 2013 and the Mewtwo vs Genesect Deck Kit. In EX Battle Boost no card carried a rarity symbol and everything except the gold cards and Pokémon EX was non holofoil.

What makes Legendary Treasures different

  • The Radiant Collection Twenty five cards numbered RC1 to RC25 with a special coating and foil pattern, sourced from the Japanese Shiny Collection, whose full art Mew EX RC24, Reshiram RC22 and Emolga RC23 are the three most valuable pack pulled cards in the set.
  • The first gold full arts Reshiram 114 and Zekrom 115 introduced entirely gold full art cards, the format every later gold secret rare follows, and both sit in the set's top five.
  • A reprint set Legendary Treasures reprinted cards from the whole Black & White Series with new artwork, plus ten Pokémon EX reprinted directly, so Charizard 19, Lugia EX 102, Darkrai EX 88 and Rayquaza 93 all return here in their final Black & White Series prints.
  • Almost no merchandise The only products released for the set were four blister packs on November 8, 2013, with holofoil Mew or Eevee promos in the Three Pack Blisters and holofoil Aggron or Ampharos from Dragons Exalted in the Single Pack Blisters; there was no Elite Trainer Box or Theme Deck.
  • Smooth Cosmos Holofoil The blister promos were the first cards printed on the smoother Cosmos Holofoil paper that The Pokémon Company International used until the Scarlet & Violet Series returned to the original pixel style in 2023.

How Legendary Treasures arrived

Japan released the Shiny Collection on February 1, 2013 and EX Battle Boost on July 13, 2013 as the second and third subsets of the BW era. The English Legendary Treasures combined them with the Mewtwo vs Genesect Deck Kit on November 6, 2013, three weeks after the McDonald's Collection 2013 and two days before the Kalos Starter Set opened the XY Series on November 8, 2013.

The blisters followed on November 8, 2013 as the set's only merchandise. Several cards later reappeared in other products: Charizard 19 as a Cosmos Holofoil in the Mega Charizard Collection and Mega Charizard Box, Lucario 80 in the Mega Lucario Collection, Zoroark 90 in Furious Fists blisters and the Mewtwo vs Darkrai Battle Arena Decks, Charmander 17 as a Build-A-Bear Workshop stamp promo, Deino 97 as the League Challenge 1st to 4th Place promo and Bianca 109 as the Froakie Season league promo of January 2014.

Legendary Treasures products and what came in them

Legendary Treasures sold in booster packs and 36 pack booster boxes and in four blister packs, with no Elite Trainer Box, Theme Decks or collections of its own. The sealed table above tracks the box and pack.

Collecting and grading Legendary Treasures

MAHOU's full art Mew EX RC24 leads the live prices above, followed by Kagemaru Himeno's Reshiram RC22, the gold Zekrom 115 and Reshiram 114, Atsuko Nishida's Emolga RC23, Charizard 19, Kanako Eo's Shaymin EX RC21, Lugia EX 102, Pikachu RC7, Eevee RC14, Eske Yoshinob's Meloetta EX RC25, Darkrai EX 88, Growlithe RC4 and Rayquaza 93. The Cosmos Holofoil Charizard 19 near the top is the Mega Charizard Collection variant of the set card; match the variant label in the checklist before comparing.

The Radiant Collection's special coating shows scratches and print lines readily, and the gold Reshiram and Zekrom chip at the edges, so PSA 10 populations are small and the gap between PSA 9 and PSA 10 is very large across the top of the set. Raw copies of the Radiant Collection cards are cheap, which makes them grading plays rather than pulls.

Sealed Legendary Treasures has become one of the most expensive Black & White Series products because booster packs are the only source of the Radiant Collection. The sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
