About Shiny Collection
What Shiny Collection is
Shiny Collection is the second subset of the BW era in Japan, released on February 1, 2013 as a Concept Pack with 20 numbered cards plus 5 secret rares for 25 in total. The set was aimed at girls, from the pack design to the soft illustration style, and its holofoil cards use the Bubble Holofoil pattern of the Beginning Set with foil watermarks unique to each Pokémon. Packs held four cards instead of five. The five secrets are Shaymin EX, Reshiram, Emolga, Mew EX and Meloetta EX, and every card later reached English players as the Radiant Collection inside Legendary Treasures. Twelve cards were first shown at the 2013 Jump Festa on December 22 and 23, 2012.
What makes Shiny Collection different
- Bubble Holofoil and watermarks Each holo card carries the Bubble Holofoil pattern and a foil watermark matched to its Pokémon, a treatment no regular expansion used.
- Source of the Radiant Collection All 25 cards became the Radiant Collection in Legendary Treasures, so the Japanese set is the first print of every Radiant card.
Shiny Collection products
Collecting and grading Shiny Collection
The 1st Edition Mew EX leads the hub, followed by Reshiram, Emolga, the holo Pikachu, Shaymin EX, Torchic, Eevee, Piplup, Meloetta EX, Gardevoir, Minccino and Snivy, all in 1st Edition. A 25 card master set is a common goal, and the Bubble Holofoil shows scratches under light, so check the Pikachu and Eevee carefully before grading.
