About Thunder Knuckle
What Thunder Knuckle is
Thunder Knuckle is one half of the eighth expansion block of the BW era in Japan, released on December 14, 2012 alongside Spiral Force. It has 51 numbered cards plus 7 secret rares for 58 in total, and the two halves share a single card. The block continued the Team Plasma story, and most of its Pokémon carry shards of ice in their artwork, a nod to Team Plasma freezing Opelucid City in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Thunder Knuckle is the Thundurus side, with Thundurus EX, Latias EX and Tornadus EX in full art and gold Garbodor and Garchomp as secrets. The English Plasma Freeze of May 8, 2013 combined both halves into 122 cards.
What makes Thunder Knuckle different
- Gold Garchomp The gold secret rare Garchomp closes the set and is the top card of the hub in both 1st Edition and unlimited prints.
- Ice in every artwork The frozen Opelucid theme runs through the block's illustrations, which gives Thunder Knuckle and Spiral Force a look no other BW era set shares.
Thunder Knuckle products
Collecting and grading Thunder Knuckle
The gold Garchomp leads the hub in both prints, followed by Umbreon, the full art Latias EX, the gold Garbodor, the full art Thundurus EX and Tornadus EX and Dragonite. 1st Edition copies rank above unlimited throughout. BW era Japanese secrets show back edge whitening quickly, so clean 1st Edition copies of the Garchomp are the ones worth grading.
