About Shiny Treasure ex
What Shiny Treasure ex is
Shiny Treasure ex is the first High Class Pack of the Japanese Scarlet & Violet era and its fourth subset overall, released on December 1, 2023 under the set code SV4a. It has 190 cards in the numbered set plus 170 secret cards, 360 in total, which made it the largest Japanese set ever released at the time, passing the 330 cards of Shiny Star V, a record it held until the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection of December 2025. Every card carries the G regulation mark, and each ten card pack guarantees one Pokémon ex.
Like earlier High Class Packs, the set is built mainly from reprints with a focus on Pokémon ex: 19 Pokémon ex sit in the numbered set with the RR rarity, from Forretress ex and Meowscarada ex to Mew ex, Gardevoir ex, Charizard ex and Koraidon ex, and several regular Pokémon use artwork that had only appeared on English SVP Black Star Promos. Cards other than Pokémon ex and secret cards carry no rarity symbol at all.
The secret cards are the point of the set. Shiny Treasure ex brought Shiny Pokémon to the Scarlet & Violet era, printing regular Shiny Pokémon with new artwork at the S rarity from 191 onward and Shiny Pokémon ex at the SSR rarity using their earlier full art artwork, followed by special illustration rares and ultra rares. Its English equivalent, Paldean Fates, released on January 26, 2024 with 245 cards.
What makes Shiny Treasure ex different
- A 360 card record With 190 numbered cards and 170 secrets, Shiny Treasure ex was the largest Japanese set ever printed when it released, ahead of Shiny Star V's 330 cards, and held the record for two years.
- Shiny Pokémon return Shiny Pokémon arrived in the Scarlet & Violet era here, with S rarity Shiny Pokémon such as Pikachu 236, Ditto 309 and Snorlax 310 and SSR Shiny Pokémon ex such as Mew ex 327 filling the secret run.
- The Mew ex special illustration rare Mew ex 347 is the most valuable card in the set by a wide margin, with the Charizard ex 349 and Gardevoir ex 348 special illustration rares behind it and Iono 350 leading the Supporters.
- One ex per pack Every ten card pack contains a guaranteed Pokémon ex, the High Class Pack format that makes the set a favorite for opening rather than a chase for a single card.
- Revealed at a tournament The set was first revealed at the end of the streamed Pokéca All Star Battle 2023 GET THE GOLD event, a celebrity tournament held for the 27th anniversary of the card game.
How Shiny Treasure ex arrived
Shiny Treasure ex released in Japan on December 1, 2023, five weeks after Ancient Roar on October 27, 2023 and eight weeks before Wild Force on January 26, 2024, following Raging Surf and preceding Crimson Haze in the era's numbering. A Traditional Chinese edition followed on December 22, 2023 and Indonesian, Thai and Korean editions on January 26, 2024.
The English Paldean Fates released the same day, January 26, 2024, combining Shiny Treasure ex with the cards from Raging Surf, the Terastal Starter Sets, Ancient Roar and Future Flash that Paradox Rift had not localized. Like Crown Zenith before it, Paldean Fates packs were sold only in products, so the Japanese set is the one collectors open by the box.
Shiny Treasure ex set the template the era's later High Class Packs followed, and its record card count stood until the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection passed it in December 2025.
Shiny Treasure ex products
Shiny Treasure ex was sold in ten card booster packs and booster boxes. The sealed table above tracks both.
Collecting and grading Shiny Treasure ex
The special illustration rare Mew ex 347 leads the set by a wide margin, with the special illustration rare Charizard ex 349 and Gardevoir ex 348 behind it, then the Shiny Pikachu 236, Shiny Ditto 309, the Iono 350 special illustration rare, Shiny Snorlax 310, the SSR Mew ex 327 and Shiny Mimikyu 341. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.
Japanese print quality keeps PSA 10 rates high, so graded premiums are modest on most of the set and concentrate on Mew ex 347. The Shiny secret run is the collecting project: with well over a hundred S rarity cards and every Pokémon ex in an SSR print, complete Shiny sets trade as a unit and take many boxes to assemble.
Sealed Shiny Treasure ex remains widely available, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
