About Pokémon Card 151

What Pokémon Card 151 is

Pokémon Card 151 is an Enhanced Expansion Pack of the Japanese Scarlet & Violet era, released on June 16, 2023 under the set code SV2a. It has 165 cards in the numbered set plus 45 secret rares, 210 in total, every one carrying the G regulation mark. It covers only the first 151 Pokémon, and unlike almost every other set its Pokémon are numbered in National Pokédex order rather than grouped by type, so Bulbasaur is card 1 and Mew ex is card 151.

The numbered set carries 12 Double rare Pokémon ex, from Venusaur ex, Charizard ex and Blastoise ex to Alakazam ex, Zapdos ex and Mew ex, and the secret rares run from 166 to 210: 18 Illustration rares, 16 Ultra rares, eight Special illustration rares and three gold Hyper rares, Mew ex, Switch and Basic Psychic Energy. Water is the most represented type at 38 cards.

It is the Japanese source of the English Scarlet & Violet 151 of September 22, 2023, which reached Western collectors in Elite Trainer Boxes and collections rather than booster boxes.

What makes Pokémon Card 151 different

  • Poké Ball and Master Ball foils Every common, uncommon and rare has a Mirror Holofoil variant with a Poké Ball pattern and, rarely, a Master Ball pattern. The Master Ball Gengar 94, Pikachu 25, Psyduck 54 and Mewtwo 150 are the set's most valuable cards, ahead of the Special illustration rares.
  • Seven card packs, two holos Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese packs hold seven cards with two guaranteed holofoils, and there is a rare chance for a pack to contain two complete Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle evolution lines as secret cards. English packs hold ten cards and the fan name for those pulls is a demigod pack.
  • Kadabra returns Kadabra 64 is the first Kadabra card since Skyridge in 2003, twenty years earlier, and its regular and Poké Ball prints trade above most rares in the set.
  • Pokédex order Cards run from Bulbasaur 1 to Mew ex 151 in National Pokédex order, which makes the set the natural binder set for Kanto collectors.
  • The starter Special illustration rares Venusaur ex 200 by Yoriyuki Ikegami, Charizard ex 201 by miki kudo and Blastoise ex 202 by Mitsuhiro Arita each show the starter with its Trainer, and the same three artists drew the Illustration rare Bulbasaur and Ivysaur, Charmander and Charmeleon, and Squirtle and Wartortle.

How Pokémon Card 151 arrived

Pokémon Card 151 released in Japan on June 16, 2023 as the era's second Enhanced Expansion Pack, between Clay Burst on April 14, 2023 and Ruler of the Black Flame on July 28, 2023. Korean and Traditional Chinese versions followed on June 30, 2023 and further Asian markets on July 28, 2023, with Thai and Indonesian packs holding five cards and no Mirror Holofoil prints.

The English Scarlet & Violet 151 followed on September 22, 2023 with 207 cards, three fewer than the Japanese set, and it sold through Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles, Poster Collections and the Ultra Premium Collection instead of display boxes. Several Japanese cards later appeared in English promo form, including Cosmos Holofoil Abra and Kadabra in the 151 ex Box with Alakazam ex and a metal Mew in the Ultra Premium Collection.

The set has stayed in demand well past release. Its Master Ball variants and starter Special illustration rares became the reference points for the whole Scarlet & Violet era, and demand for the Japanese boxes rose as the English product sold through.

Pokémon Card 151 products

Pokémon Card 151 was sold in Japanese booster packs of seven cards and in booster boxes, and the sealed table above tracks both. There is no Japanese Elite Trainer Box equivalent; the branded products belong to the English release.

Collecting and grading Pokémon Card 151

The Master Ball Gengar 94 is the most valuable card in the set, ahead of the Special illustration rare Charizard ex 201, the Master Ball Pikachu 25 and the Special illustration rare Mew ex 205. The Master Ball Psyduck 54, Mewtwo 150 and Old Amber 156 and the Poké Ball Gengar 94 follow, then Blastoise ex 202 and Kadabra 64. The live prices above show the current order, and every Master Ball card is listed as a variant, so match the label in the checklist before comparing it with the regular print.

Several ordinary cards, Slowpoke 79, Tauros 128, Tentacruel 73 and Magneton 82, show four figure PSA 10 prices on raw copies worth a few dollars; treat those as thin market noise until the sales behind them fill in.

Japanese print quality keeps PSA 10 rates high, so the graded premium sits mostly on the Master Ball cards and the Charizard ex. Complete Master Ball sets are a collecting goal in their own right, and sealed boxes are the practical way to chase them. The sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
