About Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions
What Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions is
Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions is the only subset of the ADV era in Japan, released on October 24, 2003 as Enhanced Expansion Pack ex1 with 80 cards. It became the English EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua set of March 15, 2004, which grew to 97 cards. The set is built around the Hoenn villain teams, with owner's Pokémon returning and dual type Pokémon introduced for the first time. Team Magma cards carry curved lines around the artwork window and Team Aqua cards carry bubbles. Sceptile ex, Cradily ex, Blaziken ex, Suicune ex and Swampert ex are among the Pokémon ex, and the Japanese packs carried 1st Edition marks.
What makes Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions different
- Dual types begin This subset was the first anywhere to give a Pokémon two types at once, and the mechanic reached English players in the set built from it.
- Eeveelutions in the hub Umbreon, Espeon, Jolteon and Vaporeon rank near the top of the hub, and 1st Edition prints of each carry a premium over the unlimited copies.

Collecting and grading Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions
Umbreon leads the hub in both prints, followed by Suicune ex, 1st Edition Jolteon and Espeon, Team Magma's Houndoom, Sceptile ex, 1st Edition Vaporeon and Swampert ex. The team framed cards show edge wear against their dark borders more clearly than regular ADV era cards, and the ex cards silver along the edges, so grade candidates need clean edges on both faces.
