About the Trick or Trade era

Trick or Trade is a series of promotional Pokémon Trading Card Game sets released for Halloween, annually from 2022 to 2024, with the branding used again for a single promotional card in 2025. Each set was sold as a Trick or Trade BOOster Bundle, a multipack of 40 mini booster packs of three cards designed as an alternative to candy for trick or treaters, and each set holds 30 cards of Pokémon associated with Halloween and its traditional macabre symbols.

The first set released on September 1, 2022 with 30 cards selected from the Rebel Clash through Astral Radiance expansions. Every card kept its original set number and gained a Pikachu jack-o'-lantern stamp in the bottom right corner of the artwork, the pattern the later sets followed. Trick or Trade 2023 drew on the sets of the following year, with Lost Origin's ghosts among them, and Trick or Trade 2024 on August 30, 2024 drew on the Scarlet & Violet sets, including Gengar and Darkrai prints that lead the collection's graded market.

Because the cards are reprints, Slabfolio lists each Trick or Trade print as a stamped variant of the original card on its home set hub as well as here, and the set hubs for Lost Origin, Temporal Forces, Paradox Rift and others name their Trick or Trade cards. The chase cards are the Gengar of 2024 and 2022, the Darkrai, Pikachu and Mimikyu of 2024 and the Cubone, Gastly and Mewtwo of 2022.

The bundles were printed in large numbers for a mass market, so the sets are cheap to complete raw, and value concentrates in high grade copies of the Gengar, Pikachu and Mimikyu prints. The hubs below carry each year's card list, the live chase prices and the editorial notes for each release.

  • The jack-o'-lantern stamp Every card keeps its original set number and carries a Pikachu jack-o'-lantern stamp in the bottom right corner of the artwork, which makes each one a distinct variant of its home set card.
  • Ghosts from recent sets The 2022 set drew on Rebel Clash through Astral Radiance, 2023 on the following year's sets including Lost Origin's ghost line, and 2024 on the Scarlet & Violet sets.
  • Gengar leads The Gengar prints of 2024 and 2022 top the graded market, with the 2024 Darkrai, Pikachu and Mimikyu and the 2022 Cubone, Gastly and Mewtwo behind them.
