Best Graded Magnemite Cards: Collector & Investor Guide
By Kyle Eggleston · Published May 13, 2026
Magnemite has never been the flashiest Pokémon in the hobby, but it has a long and surprisingly collectible card history. For many collectors, it is tied to early WOTC-era nostalgia, classic Ken Sugimori and Mitsuhiro Arita artwork, and memorable appearances in Base Set, Fossil, Team Rocket, Gym, and Neo-era releases. It also benefits from being part of the popular Magnemite-Magneton-Magnezone evolution line. For slab collectors, graded Magnemite cards are attractive because condition sensitivity can separate common raw copies from premium PSA, BGS, or CGC examples. Vintage print quality, centering, silvering, and edge wear matter a lot, and grading helps standardize those differences. If you want to track scarcity and value over time, slabs make Magnemite easier to compare across eras and markets.

Base Set Magnemite is the species' first major English TCG appearance and a cornerstone for Gen 1 collectors. High-grade examples are favored by Base Set registry builders and original-era character collectors.

Magnemite
Legendary Collection · 2002 · 79/110

Legendary Collection reverse holos are famous for their distinctive fireworks foil pattern and strong collector demand. Magnemite's reverse holo is especially attractive because surface quality is often the difference between a nice copy and a premium slab.
Watch closely for scratching and print lines, which are common on Legendary Collection reverse holos.

Magnemite
Skyridge · 2003 · 85/144

Skyridge is one of the most celebrated and tightly held sets in the hobby, which boosts collector interest in even non-holo species cards. Magnemite benefits from the set's prestige and the long-term appeal of the e-Reader era.
Buy the card as much for the set pedigree as for the Pokémon itself.
Estimated value: $6.95

Magnemite
Aquapolis · 2003 · 96/147

Aquapolis Magnemite gives collectors another strong e-Reader era option from a set known for lower visibility and strong advanced-collector demand. It works well as a premium vintage Magnemite without needing holo rarity to matter.
E-Reader commons can be deceptively hard in top grade, so compare multiple slab scans before buying.
Estimated value: $9.69

Dark Magnemite
Team Rocket · 2000 · 52/82

Dark Magnemite stands out because Team Rocket remains one of the most iconic themes in Pokémon TCG history. The card has stronger identity than a typical common thanks to the Dark branding and crossover appeal with Rocket collectors.
This is a great character card to pair with Dark Magneton and other Team Rocket slabs.
Estimated value: $1.39

Magnemite
Fossil · 1999 · 53/62

Fossil Magnemite is one of the most recognizable early Magnemite cards and benefits from the set's darker visual identity. It remains a staple pickup for WOTC-era species collectors.

Lt. Surge's Magnemite
Gym Heroes · 2000 · 80/132

Buy this one for theme and personality rather than pure scarcity.
Estimated value: $2.06

Magnemite
Neo Discovery · 2001 · 60/75

Neo Discovery Magnemite expands a vintage run into the Neo era, which has a different visual feel from earlier WOTC sets. It is a useful card for collectors who want a more complete historical Magnemite lineup.
Ideal as a bridge card between classic WOTC sets and later e-Reader releases.
Estimated value: $8.2

Magnemite
EX FireRed & LeafGreen · 2004 · 69/112

EX FireRed & LeafGreen reverse holos have developed a loyal collector following, especially for Gen 1 Pokémon. Magnemite's reverse holo from the set gives character collectors a strong early EX-era option with excellent slab presentation.
Target clean holo surfaces and sharp corners, since EX-era reverses show wear easily.
