What McDonald's Collection 2017 is
McDonald's Collection 2017 brought the Alola region to Happy Meals with 12 Confetti Holofoil reprints, primarily from the Sun & Moon expansion; the Pikachu was originally one of the SM Black Star Promos. The promotion ran in North America during July and August 2017, across Europe outside the UK in September and October, in one market from November 7 to December 4, and in the UK from January 3 to February 6, 2018. Each card came with a toy. The Confetti Holofoil finish introduced here became the signature look of every McDonald's set that followed.
What makes McDonald's Collection 2017 different
- Confetti Holofoil debut Every card in the set carries the speckled Confetti Holofoil treatment, a finish exclusive to McDonald's promotions that later sets kept.
- Alola starters and Cosmog Rowlet, Litten and Popplio open the set with Cosmog and Pikachu close behind, the same lineup young players were meeting in the Sun & Moon games.
Collecting and grading McDonald's Collection 2017
Pikachu leads the hub, followed by Yungoos, Rowlet, Alolan Diglett, Crabrawler and Litten, with Alolan Meowth, Cosmog, Cutiefly, Popplio, Grubbin and Pikipek completing the set. No sealed rows are tracked. Confetti Holofoil shows scratches under light, so clean copies of Pikachu, Rowlet and Cosmog are the ones worth keeping.
