Vending Series 2 is the second run of the Japanese Expansion Sheet cards, released on June 17, 1998. Instead of booster packs, the cards came on randomized peel off sheets sold from vending machines, which is why collectors call them the Vending Machine Series. The red Series 2 run has 18 numbered sheets of three cards each, sold with cardboard damage counters and coins, and each sheet always carries the same three cards, so collecting all 18 sheets completes the set with a few duplicate commons. Its 36 cards run from Venomoth, Grimer and Koffing through Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos to Ditto, with the Trainers Flash, Master Ball, Max Revive and Guard Spec., and the reverse of each sheet shows Pokémon from six Kanto locations with gameplay tips and advertisements.
Among the Series 2 cards, Onix 95 and Ditto 132 rank highest in PSA 10, behind the Masaki promo holofoils and the Series 1 Snorlax and Mewtwo that share the hub. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value. Check the sheet series when buying: Series 2 sheets are red, and the Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres belong to this run.
