About Triplet Beat
What Triplet Beat is
Triplet Beat is the first Japanese subset of the Scarlet & Violet era, released as an Enhanced Expansion Pack on March 10, 2023 with the set code SV1a. It has 73 cards in the numbered set plus 30 secret cards, 103 in total, and it is built around the three Paldea first partner final evolutions Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval, each printed as a Pokémon ex. The other Pokémon ex are Dedenne ex 38, Lycanroc ex 50 and Paldean Clodsire ex 54, and the subset supplied the first Special Energy cards of the Scarlet & Violet Series.
The 30 secret cards run from 74 to 103: twelve art rares from Tropius 74 to Paldean Wooper 85, full art prints of the six Pokémon ex and four Supporters, then the special art rares Meowscarada ex 96, Skeledirge ex 97, Quaquaval ex 98, Dendra 99 and Boss's Orders 100, and the gold Meowscarada ex 101, Skeledirge ex 102 and Quaquaval ex 103. Most of its cards reached English inside Paldea Evolved.
What makes Triplet Beat different
- The Magikarp art rare Magikarp 80, drawn by Shinji Kanda, leads the whole set in PSA 10 by a wide margin over every ex, a rare case of a common Pokémon's art rare outranking the special art rares.
- The starter trio in five prints Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex each appear as a regular double rare, a full art, a special art rare and a gold card, and the special art rares at 96 to 98 all sit in the set's top ten.
- Paldea's people and Pokémon Dendra 99, the special art rare of the Naranja Academy teacher, ranks third in the set, and the Paldean Tauros 84 and Paldean Wooper 85 art rares carry the region's new forms into the top fifteen.
How Triplet Beat arrived
Triplet Beat followed the dual Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions of January 20, 2023 as the first Enhanced Expansion Pack of the era, and Clay Burst followed it on April 14, 2023. Localized versions arrived in Traditional Chinese on March 24, 2023, Indonesian on April 21, 2023, Thai on April 28, 2023 and Korean on May 3, 2023. The art rares continued the illustration rare line that began in Scarlet ex and Violet ex, and the English Paldea Evolved later combined Triplet Beat with the Snow Hazard and Clay Burst cards.
Triplet Beat products
Triplet Beat was sold in Japanese booster packs and booster boxes. The sealed table above tracks both.
Collecting and grading Triplet Beat
Magikarp 80 leads the set in PSA 10, with the special art rare Meowscarada ex 96, Dendra 99 and Skeledirge ex 97 behind it, then the Fuecoco 78, Sprigatito 75 and Mismagius 83 art rares, the full art Dedenne ex 89, the special art rare Quaquaval ex 98 and Paldean Wooper 85. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.
Japanese print quality keeps PSA 10 rates high, so graded premiums concentrate on the Magikarp and the special art rares, while the regular Meowscarada ex 7 and Gyarados 23 cost little raw but rank in the top fifteen graded. Sealed Triplet Beat remains obtainable, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
