About Split Earth

What Split Earth is

Split Earth is the fourth expansion of the e-Card era in Japan, released on August 23, 2002 with 88 numbered cards plus three secret rares for 91 in total. Together with Mysterious Mountains, released on October 4, 2002, it became the English Skyridge set of May 12, 2003, the 182 card final expansion from Wizards of the Coast. The Japanese secrets are Golem, Kabutops and Ho-Oh at 89 to 91, and the set carries the e-Reader dot codes and holo numbering style of the late e-Card era. Japanese packs carried 1st Edition marks, and those prints lead the hub.

What makes Split Earth different

  • Secret Ho-Oh The secret rare Ho-Oh at 91 is the Japanese source of the Skyridge Ho-Oh, and its 1st Edition print is the top card of the hub.
  • Umbreon twice over Two Umbreon prints at 71 and 72 both rank in the top ten, and the 1st Edition holo Umbreon is the set's most collected non secret card.

Split Earth products

Collecting and grading Split Earth

The secret Ho-Oh leads the hub in both 1st Edition and unlimited prints, followed by Umbreon, the secret Kabutops, Vaporeon, the secret Golem, the second Umbreon and Pikachu. 1st Edition copies rank above unlimited throughout. e-Card era holos scratch easily and the dot code strip along the edge shows wear, so a clean 1st Edition Ho-Oh or Umbreon commands a large premium.
