About Mysterious Mountains
What Mysterious Mountains is
Mysterious Mountains is the fifth and final expansion of the e-Card era in Japan, released on October 4, 2002 with 88 numbered cards plus three secret rares for 91 in total. Together with Split Earth, released on August 23, 2002, it became the English Skyridge set of May 12, 2003, the 182 card final expansion from Wizards of the Coast. The Japanese secrets are Charizard, Crobat and Celebi at 89 to 91, and the set carries the e-Reader dot codes and the separate holo numbering style of the late e-Card era. Japanese packs carried 1st Edition marks, and those prints lead the hub.
What makes Mysterious Mountains different
- Secret Charizard The secret rare Charizard at 89 is the Japanese source of the Skyridge Charizard, and its 1st Edition print is the top card of the hub.
- Half of a one print set Skyridge had only one English print run, so collectors chasing its cards often turn to this Japanese half, where Gengar, Celebi and Crobat are far easier to find.
Mysterious Mountains products
Collecting and grading Mysterious Mountains
The secret Charizard leads the hub in both 1st Edition and unlimited prints, followed by Gengar, the secret Celebi and Crobat, Gyarados, the second Gengar and Snorlax. 1st Edition copies rank above unlimited throughout. e-Card era holos scratch easily and the dot code strip along the edge shows wear, so a clean 1st Edition Charizard commands a large premium.
