What Shining Darkness is
Shining Darkness is the third expansion of the DP era in Japan, released on July 5, 2007 with 119 cards. It was built around Dialga VS Palkia VS Darkrai, the tenth Pokémon movie, which premiered on July 14, 2007, one week after the set. The English Secret Wonders of November 7, 2007 expanded the pool to 132 cards and carried Gardevoir LV.X and Honchkrow LV.X. The set mixes Sinnoh Pokémon with Kanto and Johto favorites, and the hub is led by Charizard, Lugia, Entei, Raikou and Salamence holos. Japanese packs carried 1st Edition marks, and those prints lead the hub.
What makes Shining Darkness different
- A movie tie in set Shining Darkness launched to promote the Darkrai film, and Palkia sits in the hub alongside the Kanto and Johto legendaries the set brought back.
- Kanto starters in the DP era Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur all appear as holos, and the 1st Edition Charizard is one of the hub's top cards.
