About Pokémon Web Series

What Pokémon Web is

Pokémon Web, printed as Pokémon Card★web, is the only expansion of the web era in Japan, released on October 20, 2001 and sold exclusively through the Pokémon Center Online. It has 48 cards, all updated reprints from the Expansion Pack, Jungle, Fossil and Team Rocket sets plus several promos, redrawn onto the card design introduced by Pokémon VS. The set split Pokémon Power into Poké-Power and Poké-Body and was the first expansion to include Supporter cards, following the Bill promo of the month before. Each pack held ten cards, nine non holo and one holo, and the eight holos run from Dark Venusaur at 41 to Machamp at 48. It has no English equivalent.

What makes Pokémon Web different

  • Sold only online Packs could only be bought on the Pokémon Center Online, which kept the print run small and makes sealed packs and 1st Edition holos scarce today.
  • Rule changes first seen here Supporter cards, Poké-Powers and Poké-Bodies all appear in Pokémon Web before the e-Card era, so the set is a milestone in the game's rules as well as a reprint collection.

Pokémon Web products

Collecting and grading Pokémon Web

Gengar leads the hub in both 1st Edition and unlimited prints, followed by Dark Charizard, Surfing Pikachu, Dark Blastoise, Magikarp, Articuno and Dark Venusaur. The eight holos are the heart of the set, and 1st Edition copies carry a premium. Because the cards were never sold in stores, clean copies are harder to find than the 48 card size suggests, and the VS era holo pattern scratches easily.
