About Explosive Walker
What Explosive Walker is
Explosive Walker is the second subset of the Sword & Shield era in Japan, released on April 24, 2020 as an Enhanced Expansion Pack that builds on the second main expansion, Rebellion Crash. It holds 70 numbered cards plus 16 secret rares for 86 in total. The set continued the rollout of Generation VIII Pokémon and centered on Centiskorch and its Gigantamax form, alongside Gardevoir V and VMAX, Butterfree V and VMAX and the Motostoke Gym Leader Kabu as a Supporter. Its cards reached English players as part of Darkness Ablaze, which combined several Japanese releases.
What makes Explosive Walker different
- Enhancement pack, not a main set Explosive Walker adds new prints of Pokémon already seen in Rebellion Crash along with fresh V and VMAX lines, the standard role of a Japanese Enhanced Expansion Pack.
- VMAX secrets The secret slate runs from 71 to 86 and carries full art V cards, alternate VMAX prints and full art Supporters, with the Gardevoir and Butterfree VMAX secrets leading.
Explosive Walker products
Collecting and grading Explosive Walker
The hub is unusual in that two regular cards, Tyranitar and Darkrai, sit at the top ahead of the V and VMAX secrets, with Gardevoir V, Dedenne and the Butterfree VMAX and Gardevoir VMAX secrets behind them. Full art Kabu is the top trainer. Sword & Shield era Japanese cards are printed on thicker stock with a fine texture on secrets, so the usual grading concerns are back edge whitening and centering rather than surface scratches.
