Collection X

What Collection X is

Collection X is one half of the first expansion block of the Japanese XY era, released on December 13, 2013 alongside its partner set Collection Y. It has 60 cards in the numbered set plus 3 secret rares, 63 in total, and together the two sets became the English XY expansion of February 5, 2014 with 146 cards. Collection X carries Xerneas, the Legendary of Pokémon X, while Collection Y carries Yveltal.

The block introduced M Pokémon-EX, Mega Evolved versions of Pokémon-EX that need no Mega Stone but end the player's turn when they evolve, with a single attack whose name is printed in the artwork. It also introduced the Fairy type and gave Pokémon-EX a new rarity symbol, RR. The three secret rares are the full art Venusaur EX 61, Skarmory EX 62 and Xerneas EX 63, and the block was the first Japanese pack to lower the game's age rating from 10 and up to 6 and up.

What makes Collection X different

• First Edition prints Japanese XY era sets were printed with a 1st Edition mark before their unlimited run, and 1st Edition copies of Venusaur EX 61, Pikachu 22, Xerneas EX 63 and Corsola 18 are tracked separately in the chase list above.
• The first Mega Evolution EX Collection X and Collection Y brought M Pokémon-EX to the card game, the first Mega Evolution cards, with Venusaur EX 1, Xerneas EX 44 and Skarmory EX among Collection X's Pokémon-EX.
• The Pikachu common Pikachu 22 ranks in the set's top five in PSA 10 in both its 1st Edition and unlimited prints, ahead of every Pokémon-EX except the full art Xerneas EX and Venusaur EX.

How Collection X arrived

Collection X and Collection Y released in Japan on December 13, 2013, after the XY-P promotional cards began on August 1, 2013 and thirteen weeks before Wild Blaze on March 15, 2014, following the Megalo Cannon set of the previous era. The English XY followed on February 5, 2014 and combined both collections into one 146 card set with the Resilient Life and Destruction Rush Theme Decks built around Xerneas and Yveltal. The Japanese set is tracked here as its own hub because its Xerneas EX full art and 1st Edition prints trade as the original prints of the XY era.

Collection X products

Collection X was sold in booster packs and booster boxes, separately from Collection Y. The sealed table above tracks both and the half deck exclusive pack.

Collecting and grading Collection X

The full art Xerneas EX 63 leads the set in PSA 10, with the 1st Edition Venusaur EX 61 and Pikachu 22 behind it, then the unlimited Venusaur EX 61 and Pikachu 22, the full art Skarmory EX 62, Evosoda 55, the 1st Edition Xerneas EX 63, Greninja 21 and the 1st Edition Corsola 18. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.

Japanese print quality keeps PSA 10 rates high, so graded premiums are modest and concentrate on the three full arts and the 1st Edition prints, which are graded and priced separately from the unlimited run. Sealed Collection X is scarce, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
