Red Collection

What Red Collection is

Red Collection is the second expansion of the Japanese BW era, released on July 15, 2011 as the follow up to Black Collection and White Collection. It has 66 cards in the numbered set plus 6 secret cards, 72 in total, and it is built around the Victory Pokémon Victini, which appears as a regular holo at 9 and as the Full Art Victini 70. Every card in it later reached English inside Noble Victories of November 16, 2011, which added the Victini deck cards and a few cards from Psycho Drive and Hail Blizzard.

The six secrets are Full Art prints of the Swords of Justice Virizion 67, Terrakion 68 and Cobalion 69, the Full Art Victini 70, the Full Art Supporter N 71 and the secret Meowth 72. The set introduced Restored Pokémon, a new mechanic for Fossil Pokémon: the player first plays the Fossil card, searches the bottom seven cards of the deck for the matching Pokémon and puts it onto the Bench. Kyurem 24, Landorus 47, Hydreigon 52 and Haxorus 58 are among its regular holos.

What makes Red Collection different

• Victini and Meowth The Full Art Victini 70 is the most valuable card in the set in PSA 10, with the secret Meowth 72 second and the Full Art N 71 third, ahead of the three Swords of Justice Full Arts.
• The Swords of Justice Terrakion 68, Cobalion 69 and Virizion 67 received Full Art prints as secrets, and all three sit in the set's top six in PSA 10, with the regular Virizion 8 also in the top fifteen.
• Restored Pokémon Red Collection introduced the Restored Pokémon mechanic that replaced the old Fossil evolution rules, searching the bottom seven cards of the deck to bring the Fossil Pokémon into play.

How Red Collection arrived

Red Collection released in Japan on July 15, 2011, seven months after Black Collection and White Collection on December 17, 2010 opened the BW era, and Hail Blizzard followed on September 16, 2011. The English Noble Victories of November 16, 2011 carried every Red Collection card with the Fast Daze and Furious Knights Theme Decks. The Japanese set is tracked here as its own hub because its prints are the first prints of the Victini and N Full Arts.

Red Collection products

Red Collection was sold in five card Japanese booster packs and booster boxes. The sealed table above tracks both.

Collecting and grading Red Collection

Victini 70 leads the set in PSA 10, with Meowth 72 second, then N 71, Terrakion 68, Cobalion 69, Virizion 67, the regular Victini 9, Hydreigon 52, Haxorus 58 and Axew 56. The live chase list above ranks every tracked card by PSA 10 value.

Japanese print quality keeps PSA 10 rates high, so graded premiums are modest and concentrate on the six secrets, while regular cards such as Axew 56, Trubbish 30 and Kyurem 24 cost little raw but reach the top fifteen graded. Sealed Red Collection is scarce, and the sealed table above tracks what boxes and packs trade for today.
