About Flight of Legends
What Flight of Legends is
Flight of Legends is the first expansion of the PCG era in Japan, released on April 9, 2004 with 82 cards. It follows the Game Boy Advance remakes by returning to Generation I Pokémon and the Kanto region, and it became the base of the English EX FireRed & LeafGreen set of August 30, 2004. The Japanese set carries nine Pokémon ex: Moltres ex, Gyarados ex, Articuno ex, Electrode ex, Zapdos ex, Gengar ex, two Mr. Mime ex and Clefable ex. The Kanto starter ex cards that headline the English set were not part of this expansion in Japan, which gives Flight of Legends a different feel from its English counterpart.
What makes Flight of Legends different
- Legendary birds in the main set Articuno ex, Zapdos ex and Moltres ex sit in the regular numbering here, while the English set moved them into the secret rare slots above the checklist.
- 1st Edition prints Japanese PCG era packs carried 1st Edition marks, and the hub tracks 1st Edition and unlimited copies of Gengar ex, Gyarados ex, Ditto and Snorlax separately.
Flight of Legends products
Collecting and grading Flight of Legends
Gengar ex leads the hub in both prints, followed by Zapdos ex, Gyarados ex, Moltres ex and Articuno ex. Ditto, Snorlax and Pikachu are the popular non ex cards, and Slowpoke in 1st Edition is the sleeper. The 27 holo rares from this set use the PCG era holo pattern that scratches easily, so check the holo window under angled light, and confirm the 1st Edition stamp before you pay a premium for one.
